    Detailed Itinerary

    Arrive at Leh

    On arrival at Leh airport you will meet our executive & drive to Hotel for check in inl. Leh is at an altitude of  1,500ft/3,500m and therefore we recommend that the rest of the day be spent resting to help adjust to the altitude.

    Sightseeing Leh for acclimatization

    Visit the monasteries at Shey and Thiksey. Shey Gompa is situated on a small hill 10 miles south of Leh and was once the residence of the royal family. It was constructed by the first king of Ladakh, Lhachen Palgyigon, and was the seat of power of the pre Tibetan kings. Thiksey Gompa is located 15 miles from Leh. It is a very imposing monastery and one of the finest examples of Ladakhi architecture of any type. The 12 storey building contains numerous Stupas, Statues, Thangkas and wall paintings as well as a large pillar engraved with the Buddha’s teachings. The main prayer hall has a 50 feet high seated Buddha figure. Overnight in the hotel.

    Drive up to Chilling and trek to Skiu (3510 m)

    From Yurutse follow a path along the mountainside, then cross a small valley and follow a zig-zag steep path. Thereafter cross Ganda la. Then a long descent towards Shingo. After 2 Hrs. descent arrives in the valley of Markha and then after a few hundred meters further will reach Skiu. Overnight Tent.

    Skiu - Markha (3850 mtr )

    From Skiu, follow a good path on the right bank of Markha where one can find great vegetation. Then cross the right bank of the river and cross through the barren plain and arrive at Chaluk. Thereafter walk along the left bank of the river and after another crossing climb towards Markha village. Good campsite beyond the village and near the river. Overnight Tent

    Markha - Hankar (4000 mtr)

    Start the trek towards the main valley on the right bank. The path is sometimes difficult in the river bed and pass the monastery of Humlung. Then carry on a trek along the right bank and arrive in Hankar where there are several houses. Overnight Tent.

    Hankar - Base camp of Kang Yatse (5000 mtr )

    The path improves and crosses a broad valley on the right side. The valley becomes narrow and higher and crosses bridges on to the left bank and then reaches Tchatchuste. We then climb up to the Base camp of Kang Yatse. Overnight Tent

    Summit (6200 mtr ) - Back to Nimaling

    We today we will start to summit for Kang Yatse shoulder peak (6200): we will start around 12 am . with our expert Guides. Later other staff get down to plain side Nimaling hardly 2 hrs walk Overnight in tents.

    Nimaling - Kongmaru La (5150 mtr) Sumdo

    Today one will cross to the north of the Markha, climbing to the top of the highest of the three passes, the 5,306 M Kongmaru La, with its wonderful views from the top. There are snow peaks in every direction and on a clear day the giants of Karakoram, including K2, can be seen on the north-western horizon. The trail descends to the Martselang valley, following the Martselang stream to the village of Sumdo. Drive back to Leh

    Items to Carry

    Clothing
    • Backpack 40 – 50 Lt. with rain cover.
    • B. Day Pack 15 – 20 Lt. -To carry your personal gear,camera, water bottle, trail clothing, packed food etc. (you will need this, when you offload your larger pack onto a horse/porter)
    • Trekking Shoes: Please do not wear sports shoes as on most treks as we go higher it gets harder to use the sports shoes. We recommend shoes with a good hard sole and also ankle support preferable waterproof. While we do not subscribe to any particular brand you can try the Quechua Forclaz 600 or like.
    • Socks:
      2-3 pairs of cotton socks
      1-2 pairs of woolen socks (best to use when in camp. Not recommended while trekking).
    • Clothing:
      Pants: 2-3 pairs -Ideal are quick dry lightweight synthetic pants. Alternatively track pants are also comfortable to trek in. Avoid jeans/denims.
      T-shirts 2-3 pairs–Preferably full sleeves
      Synthetic Fleece Jacket -1 pair.
      Wind proof/ Water proof Jacket -1 pair.
    • Down filled / Hollow fiber fill insulated Jacket – 1 pair (optional-get this if you want to stay extra warm at camps.)
    •  A woolen cap for the head and ears
      Thermal liners-1 pair upper and lower
    Miscellaneous
    • Toiletries -Sunscreen SPF 40+, Moisturizer, Lip balm, Soap, Toilet paper.
    • Repair Kit (needle and thread).
    • Headlamp/ Torch.
    • Camera.
    • Water Bottle- Ideally keep two bottles 1 liter each.
    • Trekking Pole -Optional.
    • Plastic Packing covers. (Please pack all your gear in waterproof plastic bags so that your clothes etc do not get wet while on horses or porters. Also carry extra plastic bags in case you need to pack wet clothes.)

    Note: We advise you to carry all the belongings in a rucksack so that it is easy to move around in case of any emergency.
