    Arrive at Leh Airport

    Acclimatisation in Leh

Visit the monasteries at Shey and Thiksey. Shey Gompa is situated on a small hill 10 miles south of Leh and was once the residence of the royal family. It was constructed by the first king of Ladakh, Lhachen Palgyigon, and was the seat of power of the pre-Tibetan kings. Thiksey Gompa is located 15 miles from Leh. It is a very imposing monastery and one of the finest examples of Ladakhi architecture of any type. The 12-storey building contains numerous Stupas, Statues, Thangkas and wall paintings as well as a large pillar engraved with the Buddha’s teachings. The main prayer hall has a 50 feet high seated Buddha figure. Overnight in the hotel.

Drive upto Chiling and trek to Skiu (3510 m)

From Yurutse follow a path along the mountainside, then cross a small valley and follow a zig-zag steep path. Thereafter cross Ganda la. Then a long descent towards Shingo. After 2 Hrs. descent arrives in the valley of Markha and then after a few hundred meters further will reach Skiu. Overnight in tent.

    Skiu - Markha (3850 mtr )

From Skiu, follow a good path on the right bank of Markha where one can find great vegetation. Then cross the right bank of the river and cross through barren plain and arrive at Chaluk. Thereafter walk along the left bank of the river and after another crossing climb towards Markha village. Good campsite beyond the village and near the river. Overnight Tent

    Markha - Hankar (4000 mtr )

Start the trek towards the main valley on the right bank. The path is sometimes difficult in the river bed and pass the monastery of Humlung. Then carry on a trek along the right bank and arrive in Hankar where there are several houses. Overnight in a tent.

    Hankar - to Nimalin

The path improves and crosses a broad valley on the right side. The valley becomes narrow and higher and cross bridges on to the left bank and then reaches Tchatchuste. We then climb up to Nimalin where sheep, mountain goats and rabbits are found grazing pasture lands. This is where we camp over night.

Nimalin to Base camp of Kangyatse.

This will be teh smallest trek in the entire trip so make sure to use this time to chill and soak up the beauty of the mountains. Make sure to spent most of the time outside thetent to acclimatize and study thenmountains around you and capture the beauty.
