    Detailed Itinerary

    (Optional at extra cost): Arrive in Manali – ‘dA Base’ – acclimatization hike – Himalayan village culture experience – angling/ziplining

    The participants will deboard the Bus at 15 Mile’, 14 kms short of New Manali Bus stand. From this pick-up point, the guests will be driven to our Base in Haripur, near Manali. After refreshments and breakfast, hike 2 hrs to ‘the Kkoott’ – Himalayan Jungle Lodge in Soil, the oldest village of this valley. Unwind at Himalayan Jungle Retreat located in a massive orchard by the stream on the edge of the forest. After lunch explore the surroundings or go angling if you like. Return back at base to chat with the team over bonfire and dinner. Next morning , a drive to Jobri for the trek.

    *You can opt to stay at the Himalayan Jungle Lodge instead of the base (choose from add ons)

    Cab can be organised for you to explore Naggar and visit Naggar Castle, Roerich art Gallery etc. you can also choose to explore Manali and check out the must see attractions like Hadimba temple, Manu temple, old Manali etc. Back in time for a relaxed evening over bonfire and early dinner to get up early in the morning. For the adventurous we have the option of paragliding and zip-lining.

    Kasol / Manikaran – Tosh village by jeep (2400m) – Trek fromTosh village – Buddhaban (3020m) Duration: 4 hours

    The ascent to Barsheni from Manikaran takes about an hour over steep mountain roads. The trail starts from above the Barsheni village, with a commanding view of the Parvati valley dam that is under construction and the confluence of Parvati and Tosh rivers. The walk is a gradual climb from the Tosh village where we follow the raging Tosh River through dense pine forests to Buddhaban, a largish meadow with a spring of its own and many rocks.

    Buddhaban – Sharam Thach (3505m)Duration: 7 hours

    It’s a long day’s walk as the path climbs from Buddhaban to cross the treeline. It then continues over meadows and rhododendron clusters to the high altitude meadow at Sharam Thach.

    Sharam Thach – Shamshi Thach (3800m)Duration: 5 hours

    An initial steep climb peters out to a narrow path over patches of snow. The Tosh river continues its noisy course throughout. After a short descent, you arrive at Shamshi Thach, beautifully set in a little bowl at the base of the valley. To the north is the Tosh Glacier, to the east the massive face of Kullu Makalu peak and the glacier descending from it.

    Exploratory day at Shamshi Thach (Duration: 5 hours)

    From Shamshi Thatch there is a choice of either going up to Animal Pass (4560m) for the day or hiking up to the snout of the Tosh Glacier (4300m) depending on weather conditions .

     

    Shamshi Thach – Buddhaban Duration: 5 hours

    Retrace your steps back to Buddhaban. You can either take a transport to Bhuntar or stay in Barsheni for complete relaxation.

    Buddhaban – Barsheni Duration: 4 hours

    Head back to the road head at Barsheni, cutting short a day at Tosh Village. Trek ends participants can continue their journey to explore Manali or depart for Delhi/Chandigarh.

    • Kitchen equipment, high altitude cook and helpers and all the Camping arrangements
    • Wildlife/ environmental permits and other permits & levies.
    • All transportation as per itinerary in local cars/ jeeps
    • First-aid medication with an oxygen cylinder and all emergency backups.

    Exclusions

    • Cost of travel to and from your city.
    • Food at dhabas during the road trip
    • Cost of any form of insurance (Personal/Baggage/Medical)
    • Cost of rescue, evacuation, hospitalization, etc.
    • Any expenses of purely personal nature like laundry, phone/fax calls, tips to drivers, guides, any beverages.
    • Any expenses that arise due to change in itinerary and increase in no. of days because of natural forces like landslides, weather, roadblocks, flight cancellations, sickness etc.
    • Cost of any optional activity we offer, like paragliding, angling, rafting etc.
    • Porterage for your personal bags

    Items to Carry

    Clothing
    • Pants: 2 pairs – Ideally quick dry lightweight or track pants avoid denims
    • T-shirts 2-3 pairs – Preferably full sleeves.
    • Synthetic Fleece Jacket – 1 pair.
    • Windproof/Waterproof Jacket – 1 pair.
    • Down-filled / Hollow fibre-fill insulated Jacket – 1 -pair (optional – get this if you want to stay extra warm at camps.)
    • Thermal liners – 1 pair upper and lower (optional)
    • Trekking Shoes: High ankle support waterproof
    • Socks: 2-3 pairs of cotton socks, 1 pair of woollen socks.
    • A woollen cap for the head and ears
    Miscellaneous
    • Toiletries -Sunscreen SPF 40+, Moisturizer, Lip balm, Soap, Toilet paper.
    • Repair Kit (needle and thread).
    • Headlamp/ Torch.
    • Camera.
    • Water Bottle- Ideally keeps two bottles 1 litre each.
    • Trekking Pole -Optional.
    • Plastic Packing covers. (Please pack all your gear in waterproof plastic bags so that your clothes etc do not get wet while on horses or porters. Also carry extra plastic bags in case you need to pack wet clothes.)

    Note: We advise you to carry all the belongings in a rucksack so that it is easy to move around in case of any emergency.

    • Delhi to Bhuntar – Flight (we’ll arrange for a pickup at the airport on request)

    We strongly suggest you keep yourself adequately hydrated- possibly double your water intake.

    • Ensure that you take all your medications along to avoid any health issues.
    • Inform your friends and family before you depart for the trip and let them know that this will be a ‘No-Network’ zone.

    We will be your point of contact throughout the entire trip. Our complete staff is trained and certified, including our wilderness first responders on the programs. So in any case, we will be there to help you out.
