    • Access to high-altitude regions of Spiti Valley, especially Hikkim, Komik, Langza Village and Pin Valley etc, may be closed during winter due to heavy snowfall. Hence, the visit to these locations is weather-dependent.

    How To Reach Spiti Valley during Winter Season:

    By Road:

    From Manali:

    The Manali route is generally open only during the summer months, typically from late May to early October. This route is closed in winter and reopens once Kunzum La is accessible in late June.

    From Shimla:

    To reach Spiti Valley in winter, the only route is by road from Shimla. The journey via Kalpa, Nako, Tabo etc to Kaza is about 12-14 hours but should be undertaken in two days during winter.

    1. By Bus or private vehicle:

    Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) operates regular bus services from Shimla to Kaza. These buses are cost-effective but can be time-consuming and may not ply due to Spiti Valley weather conditions in winter.

    You can also hire a private vehicle or taxi from Shimla, which offers more flexibility.

    By Air:

    During summer the nearest airport to Spiti Valley is Bhuntar Airport, near Kullu.

    During winter the nearest airport is Chandigarh.
