    Detailed Itinerary

    (Optional at extra cost): Arrive in Manali – ‘dA Base’ – acclimatization hike – Himalayan village culture experience – angling/ziplining

    The participants will deboard the Bus at 15 Mile’, 14 kms short of New Manali Bus stand. From this pick-up point, the guests will be driven to our Base in Haripur, near Manali. After refreshments and breakfast, hike 2 hrs to ‘the Kkoott’ – Himalayan Jungle Lodge in Soil, the oldest village of this valley. Unwind at Himalayan Jungle Retreat located in a massive orchard by the stream on the edge of the forest. After lunch explore the surroundings or go angling if you like. Return back to base to chat with the team over bonfire and dinner. Next morning , a drive to Jobri for the trek.
    *You can opt to stay at the Himalayan Jungle Lodge instead of the base (choose from add ons)

    Cab can be organized for you to explore Naggar and visit Naggar Castle, Roerich art Gallery etc. you can also choose to explore Manali and check out the must see attractions like Hadimba temple, Manu temple, old Manali etc. Back in time for a relaxed evening over a bonfire and early dinner to get up early in the morning. For the adventurous we have the option of paragliding and zip-lining.

    Manali to Bakar Thatch

    Drive Manali (dA Base) to Dhundi (2hrs) and then start walking to Bakarthatch (5hrs) overnight stay in tents.Enroute we will be crossing the Dhundi Village, the Last village in Solang Valley, a place where Beas river meets it’s first tributary coming from Beas kund and Rohtang Pass.Metal road ends here. After Dhundi our trek starts from the coniferous tree – line to the high altitude pasture.

    Bakkar Thach to Beas Kund Glacier. (3600m/11800ft) - Camp 1

    Post breakfast, we move towards the Beas Kund Glacier. A short but steep climb takes  you to   a 300m long moraine field that culminates in the meadows of the Beas Kund region. A vast flatland, strewn with small boulders and streams, crowned by huge mountain faces and surreal glaciers

    Day for acclimatization overnight at Beas kund.Camp 1

    It’s a complete rest day. We’ll spend the day at base camp eating, drinking ,exercising, sleeping and adjusting to the altitude. The tasks for the day will include technical gear distribution, crampon fitting, and a general meeting on how we’ll proceed over the coming days.

    Camp 1 to Camp 2 via Tentu pass(below) (4000m/13120ft)

    Load ferry and other team members will do ice climbing practice on glaciers. Full day training in the glacier.

    Camp2 (below Tentu Pass) to Camp 3 (above Tentu Pass)(4800m/15740ft)

    We start early this morning up the mountain. Almost after a few strides, we will be walking up a steep slope of hardened snow. We’ll arrive at camp 3, which is half way up the mountain side in time to have our packed lunch.  From tonight onwards, we’ll be camping on snow for the next few days.

    Camp 3 to Summit ((5000m/16400ft))– back to Camp 3 - overnight stay at camp3.

    *(additional day for summit if weather conditions are bad.)

    Camp 3 to Camp 1

    Today morning we’ll start by descending down towards Tentu Pass towards base camp. We still need to watch our step in the gully, however soon, it’ll be a pleasant slide downhill. On arriving at camp, we’ll be welcomed by our base camp staff, and a hearty, sumptuous meal with a Hint of Pride

    Camp 1 to Base camp

    Base camp to Dhundi to “dA Base''. Overnight stay at dA Base- Mountaineerz in Manali.

    dA Base Mountaineerz in Manali to Bus Stop or Self Transport.

    If traveling by bus, spend the day at leisure, go angling in the river Beas (some nice spots near our base) or just unwind and relax.

    Drop to the bus stand by 4 pm.

    • Any expenses of purely personal nature like laundry, phone/fax calls, tips to drivers, guides, any beverages.
    • Any expenses that arise due to change in itinerary and increase in no. of days because of natural forces like landslides, weather, roadblocks, flight cancellations, sickness etc.
    • Cost of any optional activity we offer, like paragliding, angling, rafting etc.
    • Porterage for your personal bags

    Items to Carry

    Clothing
    • Backpack 40 – 50 Lt. with rain cover.
    • B. Day Pack 15 – 20 Lt. -To carry your personal gear,camera, water bottle, trail clothing, packed food etc. (you will need this, when you offload your larger pack onto a horse/porter)
    • Trekking Shoes: Please do not wear sports shoes as on most treks as we go higher it gets harder to use the sports shoes. We recommend shoes with a good hard sole and also ankle support preferable waterproof. While we do not subscribe to any particular brand you can try the Quechua Forclaz 600 or like.
    • Socks:
      2-3 pairs of cotton socks
      1-2 pairs of woolen socks (best to use when in camp. Not recommended while trekking).
    • Clothing:
      Pants: 2-3 pairs -Ideal are quick dry lightweight synthetic pants. Alternatively track pants are also comfortable to trek in. Avoid jeans/denims.
      T-shirts 2-3 pairs–Preferably full sleeves
      Synthetic Fleece Jacket -1 pair.
      Wind proof/ Water proof Jacket -1 pair.
    • Down filled / Hollow fiber fill insulated Jacket – 1 pair (optional-get this if you want to stay extra warm at camps.)
    •  A woolen cap for the head and ears
      Thermal liners-1 pair upper and lower
    Miscellaneous
    • Toiletries -Sunscreen SPF 40+, Moisturizer, Lip balm, Soap, Toilet paper.
    • Repair Kit (needle and thread).
    • Headlamp/ Torch.
    • Camera.
    • Water Bottle- Ideally keep two bottles 1 liter each.
    • Trekking Pole -Optional.
    • Plastic Packing covers. (Please pack all your gear in waterproof plastic bags so that your clothes etc do not get wet while on horses or porters. Also carry extra plastic bags in case you need to pack wet clothes.)

    Note: We advise you to carry all the belongings in a rucksack so that it is easy to move around in case of any emergency.

    We strongly suggest you keep yourself adequately hydrated- possibly double your water intake.

    • Ensure that you take all your medications along to avoid any health issues.
    • Inform your friends and family before you depart for the trip and let them know that this will be a ‘No-Network’ zone.

    We will be your point of contact throughout the entire trip. Our complete staff is trained and certified, including our wilderness first responders on the programs. So in any case, we will be there to help you out.
