Drive Manali (dA Base) to Dhundi (2hrs) and then start walking to Bakarthatch (5hrs) overnight stay in tents.Enroute we will be crossing the Dhundi Village, the Last village in Solang Valley, a place where Beas river meets it’s first tributary coming from Beas kund and Rohtang Pass.Metal road ends here. After Dhundi our trek starts from the coniferous tree – line to the high altitude pasture.
Post breakfast, we move towards the Beas Kund Glacier. A short but steep climb takes you to a 300m long moraine field that culminates in the meadows of the Beas Kund region. A vast flatland, strewn with small boulders and streams, crowned by huge mountain faces and surreal glaciers
It’s a complete rest day. We’ll spend the day at base camp eating, drinking ,exercising, sleeping and adjusting to the altitude. The tasks for the day will include technical gear distribution, crampon fitting, and a general meeting on how we’ll proceed over the coming days.
Load ferry and other team members will do ice climbing practice on glaciers. Full day training in the glacier.
We start early this morning up the mountain. Almost after a few strides, we will be walking up a steep slope of hardened snow. We’ll arrive at camp 3, which is half way up the mountain side in time to have our packed lunch. From tonight onwards, we’ll be camping on snow for the next few days.
*(additional day for summit if weather conditions are bad.)
Today morning we’ll start by descending down towards Tentu Pass towards base camp. We still need to watch our step in the gully, however soon, it’ll be a pleasant slide downhill. On arriving at camp, we’ll be welcomed by our base camp staff, and a hearty, sumptuous meal with a Hint of Pride
If traveling by bus, spend the day at leisure, go angling in the river Beas (some nice spots near our base) or just unwind and relax.
Drop to the bus stand by 4 pm.
You can extend stay before or after the climb.
Note: We advise you to carry all the belongings in a rucksack so that it is easy to move around in case of any emergency.
